Calvin Johnson spent his entire career in the NFC North. Johnson’s Lions competed against Aaron Rodgers twice per year. Sadly for fans, Johnson and Rodgers have only ever been on the same sideline on Madden Ultimate Team.
While Rodgers never got the chance to throw passes to Megatron, the Packers’ future hall of famer did try to recruit Johnson. Appearing on both The Pat McAfee Show and All The Smoke (hosted by Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson), Johnson recalled Rodgers’ attempts at luring the all-time great receiver to Green Bay.
Imagine what this duo would’ve done…

“Whenever we played Green Bay … He’d be over there like, ‘Hey, man, you need to come on over here,’” Johnson said on All The Smoke.
Johnson accrued 11,619 receiving yards and 83 touchdown catches in just nine NFL seasons before a surprise retirement in 2016. The Georgia Tech legend spent his entire pro career in Detroit. The Lions struggled to build around Johnson, who experienced just two playoff games in those nine years.
The 6’5” Johnson, one of the greatest physical specimens in NFL history, established a special connection with quarterback Matthew Stafford during their time in the Motor City. But one can only imagine what Johnson might have accomplished with Rodgers in Green Bay.
Luckily for Lions fans, they never had to find out.
