Cam Newton remains a member of the Carolina Panthers and, ideally, that’s where the former No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick will remain. However, that is appearing less likely by the day.
The former Auburn Tigers star probably isn’t playing again this season and the latest reports suggest that he’s considering surgery, to make sure he’s healthy by the spring, when a potential trade could happen.
Several teams would likely have interest in trading for Newton and there’s reportedly at least one destination he’d be very open to.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Chicago Bears could be a “welcomed” destination for Newton.
“Chicago, if they’re in the market for a quarterback, is something that — from my understanding — Cam Newton would in fact welcome if that all worked out,” Rapoport said Sunday.

A healthy Cam Newton with that Bears defense could make for quite a squad in the NFC in 2020.
Chicago, of course, will have to make a decision on Mitch Trubisky before making a move for Newton this offseason. The former top NFL Draft pick out of North Carolina has seven games left this season to impress the Bears’ front office.
