The Cardinals have reportedly decided to pick up Kyler Murray's fifth-year option, per Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic.
"The Arizona Cardinals will be picking up QB Kyler Murray's fifth-year contract by the May 2 deadline, which guarantees him a salary of around $28 million," McManaman tweeted. Adding, "Both sides are expected to eventually agree to a reworked deal at some point this summer."
The NFL world reacted to the team's plan to picking up the two-time Pro Bowl QB's option on social media.
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO," a Cardinals fan replied in all-caps.
"Kyler beat Baker," commented a Browns fan.
"We celebrating at da game," tweeted a Phoenix sports fan.
"Kyler Murray will get paid by the Cardinals," said another. "Just a matter of when."
"Cards keep coach and GM but get no new players. Now they extend the contract of they whiny QB. What a mess."
"And people think Elon is wasting money buying Twitter..." replied another.
"Big news," commented Cardinals writer Blake Murphy.
"[Cordial] patience will pay off for K1 and AZ Cards," said another Cardinals fan. "Now we can silence the nonsense."
A step in the right direction for Kyler and the Cards.
