The New Orleans Pelicans and the Portland Trailblazers met on Tuesday evening. New Orleans was victorious, beating Portland, 138-117.
Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson was the best player on the floor for much of the game. The No. 1 overall NBA draft pick had arguably the best game of his young career.
Williamson, who starred collegiately at Duke, poured in 31 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists. It’s one of the best stat lines ever for a 19-year-old rookie.

Portland forward Carmelo Anthony has been around basketball for a long time. He had a telling comment on Williamson following Tuesday evening’s game.
“I don’t really think he’s comparable to anyone that I have seen. Someone who is as powerful as that, who jumps like that,” Anthony said.
That’s quite an endorsement from Anthony, who’s rise in the NBA coincided with that of LeBron James. Many have said that Williamson could be the league’s most-impactful rookie since James’ debut season more than a decade ago.
New Orleans improved to 23-31 on the season with the win on Tuesday night. The Pelicans are 4.5 games out of a playoff spot, trailing Memphis, which has the No. 8 seed right now.
