WWE superstar Ashley Massaro passed away last week due to an apparent suicide, according to a new report from TMZ. She was 39 years old.

Massaro was reportedly found unconscious at her home on Long Island on Thursday morning and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The cause of death, per TMZ, was hanging.

Unfortunately, on Friday, multiple sites ran a fake quote from one of Massaro's friends on her cause of death. However, fellow wrestler CM Punk called into WMGM that day and said he heard Massaro had taken her own life.

"Tremendously sad way to go," Punk said via TMZ... "thoughts obviously go out to her family, especially her daughter."

"It's May. It's Mental Health Month ... if you're depressed and things aren't going your way, there's no reason to feel alone," Punk added.

"Just reach out to somebody. Text a friend. Call somebody. There's hotlines. There's ways you can get help."

Massaro won Raw Diva Search in 2005 which earned her a one-year contract with WWE. She parlayed that into a stint as a WWE Superstar from 2005-08.

A model as well, Massaro also appeared on the cover of Playboy.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with her family and friends.
