The LeBron James experience for the Los Angeles Lakers didn't go as expected in the first season. While no one suggested the team would win the Western Conference, most expected the team to at least make the playoffs.
However, with a handful of games left in the regular season, the Lakers have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
James will missed the playoffs for the first time in 14 years.
On Wednesday afternoon, Colin Cowherd had a hot take about the future between the Lakers and LeBron. He suggested the team should trade LeBron for Zion Williamson - if afforded the possibility.
"I would trade LeBron for him. Let me give you an example. I run the Lakers..." Cowherd said on Wednesday.
"Right now LeBron is better than Zion, but when has trading a declining asset for a rising asset not been the only choice a grown up could make?"
Here are his full comments.
Sure, LeBron isn't getting any younger, but to suggest he should be traded for a player who hasn't entered the NBA yet is asinine.
James carried the Lakers as the team dealt with a rash of injuries. He currently sits fourth in the league in scoring with 27.4 points per game and third in assists with 8.2 per game.
