Longtime ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit went off on the Miami Hurricanes’ football program during Saturday morning’s show.
Herbstreit ripped The U for not being on the same page, from the university president down to the head football coach. The longtime ESPN college football analyst does not believe the ACC program is set up for success.
“College football, you look at the powerhouse programs, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State — president, AD, coach — same vision. They’re aligned in their vision for what needs to happen. Recruiting, budget, staff. Whatever it needs, that’s what it takes,” Herbstreit said.
“Miami doesn’t have that. So I don’t think it matters who the head coach is. Until you get a president and an AD and a coach together on the same page, I guess football doesn’t matter. It matters to the alums and the brotherhood — The U — but I’m not sure it matters to the people making decisions. If they don’t change that, it doesn’t matter who the head coach is.”

Most fans seemed to agree.
“Well deserved. It’s funny how UF can have great academics AND athletics,” one fan wrote.
“Finally someone talks about the stadium. IMO one of the biggest issues. Low attendance affects the team enormously. As much as we’d love to say otherwise its 10x Harder to come back from a deficit with a half empty stadium,” another fan added.
“Excellent reporting Kirk Herbstreit! You are correct. The University of Miami’s problems start from the top. They need a University President who knows and cares about football and UM doesn’t have that right now. Mario Cristobal could turn the UM football program around,” one fan added.
The U is 2-2 on the season. It’s been years since the Hurricanes were an elite, nationally relevant program on a weekly basis.
Miami will look to improve to 3-2 next week against Virginia.
