The 2022 NFL Draft is finally here, and the Jacksonville Jaguars are officially on the clock. Who will the AFC South franchise take with the No. 1 overall pick? Cris Collinsworth has made his prediction.
The Jaguars will likely go either defensive or offensive line with the pick. It's shaping up to come down to two players: former Michigan star Aidan Hutchinson or Georgia standout Travon Walker.
Collinsworth thinks Walker will end up being the pick.
"This pick will likely be Aidan Hutchinson or [Travon] Walker, but nothing would surprise me here," Collinsworth said, via PFF.com. "Hutchinson is the safe play, but Walker has felt like Trent Baalke’s play all along — Baalke loves great athletes and the potential for greatness. Walker has a little more of that than Hutchinson and is the likely choice."
Earlier this week we learned that the Jaguars' front office is reportedly split on who to take with the No. 1 pick.
Trent Baalke reportedly prefers Walker. Owner Shad Khan, on the other hand, wants Hutchinson, per a report.
The Jaguars' decision could drastically change how the following picks play out. If Jacksonville goes with Walker, the Lions could then go out and take Hutchinson. That'd leave all the top tackles and guys like Derek Stingley and Kayvon Thibodeaux available for the Texans at No. 3.
The bottom line is the Jaguars are going to shape how this first round pans out. Coverage begins tonight on ESPN and ABC.
