NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth made an unfortunate mistake while discussing Dak Prescott’s contract situation during tonight’s Cowboys-Vikings Sunday Night Football contest.
Collinsworth and Al Michaels were discussing the state of Prescott’s contract negotiations with the Cowboys. It doesn’t sound like Dallas and its star quarterback will agree to an extension anytime soon.
NBC’s lead NFL analyst brought up how this doesn’t faze Prescott and how he’s comfortable playing without an extension.
“He got his mom a house, he’s happy. He’ll let sponsorships pay for a few other things,” he said.
Prescott’s mother, Peggy, passed away from cancer in 2013 while the quarterback was attending Mississippi State.

Obviously, Collinsworth did not mean any harm by his mistake. He’s been a constant fan of Prescott and just made an unfortunate error this evening.
Prescott continues to pay tribute to his late mother with all aspects of his career.
“So her impact, the one woman in my life that has an impact on my life for the rest of my life is my mom. I mean, I’ll carry it with me forever. It will never be changed. The things that she taught me, the things she told me how to be a man, the things that she portrayed as a woman of putting other people first, of being selfless, hard work and effort, it’s something I try to mimic every day in my life,” Dak said of his late mom in 2017.
“She’s the reason that I live life. She’s the reason I have a story today.”
UPDATE: Cris Collinsworth apologized in the third quarter for misspeaking about Prescott and his mother in the first half of Sunday night’s game against the Vikings.
