There were plenty of storylines to follow in the first round of this year's NFL Draft, but the one that drew the most buzz was the New York Giants' decision with the No. 6 overall pick. Despite having the chance to draft an elite defensive prospect that was on the board, general manager Dave Gettleman went with a bold choice.

New York shocked the sports world by selecting Daniel Jones with its first pick. It's a selection that left fans all across the country scratching their head.

Gettleman finally took a chance on finding the eventual successor to Eli Manning, but most scouts thought Dwayne Haskins was the better prospect. After all, the Ohio State quarterback had much better numbers in college than Jones.

To make matters worse for New York, the Washington Redskins would later take Haskins with the No. 15 pick.

Somehow the Giants have turned the trade involving Odell Beckham Jr. into the second-most puzzling move of the offseason.

As you'd expect, the majority of Twitter had its share of harsh comments for Gettleman.

Another issue that people had with Gettleman is that he used the first-round pick from the Beckham trade to select Dexter Lawrence from Clemson. While he is certainly an impressive prospect and should bolster the defensive line for the Giants, it didn't sit well with the media.

The Giants also traded back into the first round to select Deandre Baker from Georgia.

Only time will tell if Gettleman set the franchise back yesterday, or put them in great shape for the future.
