The Golden State Warriors, simply put, are a mess right now. Draymond Green’s injury on Friday night isn’t going to help that matter.
Golden State lost Kevin Durant to a torn Achilles tendon in the NBA Finals last year – and then lost him to the Brooklyn Nets in free agency. Klay Thompson, later in the series, tore his ACL. He may not be able to play at all this season.
Then, this season, Steph Curry broke his hand earlier this week – he’s out at least three months.
Against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, Green joined the list of Warriors players who are injured. He apparently has some kind of ligament issue in one of his fingers.
“I hurt my finger. Ligament action. But it is what it is. I don’t know (about Saturday), we’ll see. It’s pretty sore. I couldn’t grip the ball the whole entire game, probably since the second quarter.”
If Green can’t go, D’Angelo Russell will have to shoulder the load even more. It doesn’t leave the team with much firepower.
The Warriors are currently 1-4 and look nothing like the team we saw on the court together the past few years. They’re set to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night.
