Dwight Howard will reportedly be back with the Los Angeles Lakers for the upcoming NBA season and the 33-year-old center will be rocking a new jersey number.

NBA insider Shams Charania is reporting that Howard has cleared waivers and is signing his new Lakers contract.

Howard, who played for the Lakers in 2012-13, will be wearing No. 39 in Los Angeles.

This will be Howard's fifth team in five seasons.

Howard is reportedly committed to being a different player - one that's comfortable in whatever role is necessary - as he told the Lakers he hit "rock bottom" last year. "Lakers want him to protect rim/rebound in limited role. There was sense Howard realized he hit 'rock bottom' and had been humbled. Still they'll judge him on actions, not words. He's been warned," ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

The Lakers are signing Howard following DeMarcus Cousins' torn ACL injury. Los Angeles lacked depth at the center position following Boogie's likely season-ending injury.

Anthony Davis will probably play the 5 at times, though he prefers playing forward.

The Lakers open the 2019-20 regular season on Oct. 22 against the Clippers.
