Emmitt Smith knows what it's like to be in the position that Tom Brady is in now.
The former Cowboys running back spent the first 13 seasons of his NFL career in Dallas, winning three Super Bowls. Smith then finished his career in Arizona, playing two seasons for the Cardinals.
Brady, 42, is leaving the Patriots after 20 years. The six-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback signed with Tampa Bay in free agency.
Smith, a Hall of Fame running back, posted a message on Instagram for Brady. He has some advice for the iconic quarterback.
"Embrace your new teammates, bring your winning spirit and work ethic to the locker room. Download as much knowledge as you can to these young players who are thirsting for knowledge. Most importantly, prepare to realize how much your love for this game is tied to your love for the Patriots and their fans. Good luck to you on your new journey my friend. See you in Canton Goat!!!" he wrote.
That's as good a message as any for Brady as he begins the second - and likely final - act of his NFL career.
Brady seems to be excited about the move, as he posted a message of his own on Instagram.
"I have always believed that well done is better than well said, so I’m not gonna say much more - I’m just gonna get to work!" he wrote.
