ESPN announced this morning a major NFL reporter hire. It’s a familiar face.
Ed Werder, the veteran NFL reporter who was laid off by the Worldwide Leader back in May 2017, has been hired back at the network.
The longtime NFL insider, who’s spent much of his career covering the Dallas Cowboys, announced his hiring to NBC Sports’ Peter King.
“It says they’re emphasizing good journalism. I really feel relieved that we’ve reached a deal, and it’s final, and now it’s just the excitement of doing the job that I know I can do—and justifying the expectations that I have created for myself. I intend to,” he told King.
Please change that to @WerderEdESPN now. More accurate and sounds better. https://t.co/B7yAfpkime

Werder will be working primarily as a reporter for ESPN’s Dallas bureau, though it’s likely he’ll do more than cover the Cowboys/NFL.
The 2019 NFL regular season is set to begin in less than a month.
It kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 5 with Chicago taking on Green Bay.
