Ezekiel Elliott’s mother is joining those tweeting about the Dallas Cowboys and their contract negotiations with the star running back heading into Week 1 of the 2019 NFL regular season.
Speculation about Elliott and the Cowboys increased over the weekend, with reports emerging about a step up in contract negotiations.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that there was now reason for optimism in Dallas, with the possibility increasing of a deal getting done soon. Yahoo! Sports insider Charles Robinson reported that the Cowboys were getting “close.”
“The Cowboys are close to completing a contract extension with running back Ezekiel Elliott. I’m reporting this. Not speculating it,” Robinson reported.
“Dallas is frustrated with the last exchange. After Saturday’s momentum, Cowboys expected more compromise to get a deal done today. Didn’t happen, so it’s on to Monday and a hopeful reset,” he added Sunday night.
Elliott’s mom seems to be enjoying all of the speculation at the moment.

Elliott is holding out with two years left on his rookie deal. The former Ohio State star wants a big pay raise, seeking a deal similar to the one Todd Gurley got from the Rams (four years, $60 million).
The Cowboys are likely willing to give him one, though the guaranteed money aspect is probably a major hurdle to clear. Gurley got more than $40 million in guaranteed money. Dallas probably isn’t interested in giving Elliott that kind of guaranteed money.
Dallas has now entered game week, with the season opener against the New York Giants just days away. In order for Elliott to play on Sunday, a deal needs to get done soon.
