The top guard in this year’s recruiting class has finally announced where he’ll play college basketball. Five-star recruit Cole Anthony has officially committed to North Carolina.
Anthony is the No. 3 overall recruit in his class, per 247Sports. His athleticism and ability to shoot is the perfect combination for today’s style of basketball.
Following a successful three-year stint with Archbishop Molloy High School, Anthony took his talents to Oak Hill Academy. The uptick in competition didn’t prevent him from becoming a McDonald’s All-American.
While every program was hopeful to land Anthony for next season, only four teams were on his final list. Although North Carolina won the sweepstakes, Notre Dame, Georgetown and Oregon fought until the very end.
The announcement of Anthony’s decision occurred on ESPN’s Get Up! show, which takes place in New York.
He’ll become the next face of the Tar Heels.

North Carolina is losing a plethora of talent to the NBA Draft, such as Cam Johnson, Nassir Little and Coby White. However, the addition of Anthony will help fill the void left at point guard.
Anthony joins five-star center Armando Bacot and three-star guard Jeremiah Francis in Chapel Hill.
The expectation is that Anthony will be a one-and-done prospect in college hoops.
