The Cleveland Browns selected Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Since then, the former Oklahoma star has sat behind Tyrod Taylor and Drew Stanton on the team's depth chart.
For one former NFL player and current NFL analyst, that's ridiculous. Eight-year NFL veteran Geoff Schwartz ripped the Browns for how the team is handling the early career of Baker Mayfield.
Schwartz likes what he's seen from Mayfield in the preseason, and thinks he needs to get some with with the first-team offense. Browns head coach Hue Jackson announced earlier this preseason that Mayfield won't get any work with the first-team offense in the preseason.
Schwartz doesn't get it.
Here's what he had to say on the Rich Eisen Show.
Schwartz called Jackson's decision to not allow Baker Mayfield to take reps with the first-team offense "malpractice."
Call it what you will, the Browns' handling of Baker Mayfield is odd at best.
