American wrestler Gable Stevenson is returning to Minnesota as an Olympic gold medalist. And now, it’s time for the elite athlete to focus on the next chapter of his sporting career.
The U.S. Olympian is currently entering his senior season as a wrestler for Minnesota.
“I’ve considered playing football,” Stevenson said. “I talked to Coach Fleck of Gopher Football, and he wanted me to come out before I went to the Olympic Games to to come play for a little bit. But I told him after the Olympic Games, I’d give him an official decision. So I’m considering playing football.”
That consideration has even extended past the collegiate game.
“I would hope on day that I can get a tryout with the NFL… There’s some teams that have come and have mentioned me to some agents,” he added. “It would be cool to go out there and play in the NFL for a little bit.”

Stevenson had an electric finish to his gold medal run in Tokyo this year. With just seconds left on the clock, the Minnesota wrestler completed a buzzer-beating two-point takedown to claim his top spot in the 125 kilogram weight class.
After the victory, the 260 pound beast celebrated with a backflip — showing off his ridiculous athleticism.
