Alex Morgan, the leading scorer at the Women's World Cup in France this summer, appears to be battling through an injury against Spain today.

The United States women's national team is taking on Spain in the Round of 16, with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals.

Morgan, 29, has gone down multiple times in this afternoon's game against Spain.

The star striker was down for several minutes in her latest fall and was visibly in pain as she laid on the ground.

Morgan remained in the contest, though she's clearly struggling.

Spain has been incredibly physical with Morgan, who was taken out of the United States' final group game for injury precautions.

“It was just more 'let’s be smart about this,'" USWNT manager Jill Ellis said after the U.S. win over Sweden. “It’s a zero-risk game in terms of having players available for the next game.”

Morgan started against Spain this afternoon, though she's been struggling and the U.S. is tied, 1-1, early in the second half.

The game is on FS1.
