The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced a new update on cornerback Jalen Ramsey heading into Week 4 of the 2019 regular season.
Head coach Doug Marrone announced on Wednesday night that Ramsey will be away from the team as he travels back to Nashville.
Ramsey is expecting his second child.
"Months ago in the offseason, Jalen notified me that he was expecting the birth of his second child in late September," Marrone announced.
"We spoke about this recently and again after practice and decided that it was best for Jalen to fly to Nashville tonight after meetings to be with family during the birth of their daughter. He will return to the team when he's ready, and we will provide an update at that time."
Ramsey requested a trade from the Jaguars earlier this month, but played in their Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans.
The star cornerback missed practice earlier this week with a sickness. He reportedly would still like to be traded.
Ramsey has had quite a week.
"Since Monday, Jalen Ramsey has had the flu, a sore back and is now leaving the team to fly to Nashville for the birth of his second child," ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted.
However, recent reports suggest that Jacksonville is not interested in trading Ramsey, as the team has two years left of contract control. The Jaguars are looking to make a playoff push with rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew.
Jacksonville is set to play at Denver on Sunday. It's unclear if Ramsey will be playing in that game.
