The Urban Meyer hiring isn't the proudest moment of Shad Khan's time as owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And he said as much in no uncertain terms via USA Today's Jarrett Bell.
When you lose the respect, the trust and an issue of truthfulness, how can you work with someone like that? It’s not possible.
Khan admitted that it wasn't even about Meyer's 2-11 record.
“It was not about wins and losses. I think when you know someone is not truthful, how can you be around someone, OK? We had Doug Marrone here four years. We had Gus Bradley here four years. I have nothing but the utmost respect and friendship with them. That’s why they got the time, because it wasn’t a matter about respect or truth. It was a matter of wins and losses over four years. This is much bigger than that.
The NFL world reacted to the Jaguars owner's comments across Twitter.
"Shad," replied Josh Henschke.
"My brother in christ....." tweeted Jacob Shames.
"Maybe he should unload on the person who hired Meyer," commented former NFL QB Sage Rosenfels. "Oh wait."
"Oh wow" said Clay Harbor. "Shad throwing blows."
The Jaguars and Urban Meyer reportedly have yet to reach an agreement on the beleaguered coach's buyout.
