The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a crushing loss on Sunday, missing a game-winning field goal as time expired against the New York Giants.
Matt Gay pushed the 34-yard game-winning kick to the right, giving the Daniel Jones-led Giants their first win of the season.
Tampa Bay's kicker didn't shy away from any blame following the contest.
"We're not in that situation if I put those first two (PATs) through. So, yeah, this loss is 100 percent on me. I've got to be a lot better than I was tonight," Gay said, addressing his missed extra points earlier in the game.
Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston went up to Gay in the locker room, telling him they're confident in him moving forward.
"Winston pulled Matt Gay aside in the locker room after the game. He told Gay to keep digging in and that they shouldn’t have put him in that situation. Said they have faith in him to make those game winners," Carmen Vitali tweeted.
The Bucs (1-2) really could have used this win, as they play at the Los Angeles Rams next weekend and at the New Orleans Saints the following weekend.
