Former Kentucky star quarterback Jared Lorenzen, who also played in the NFL for a few seasons, has reportedly been hospitalized with what's being reported as an infection. Lorenzen was a fan favorite during his playing career.

According to Matt Jones, who runs Kentucky Sports Radio, Lorenzen was admitted to the hospital with an infection and is "dealing with some medical issues" at the moment. It's unclear how serious of a situation he's dealing with.

Lorenzen starred at Kentucky from 2000-2003, leading the Wildcats to one of their most successful eras in program history. He went undrafted in the 2004 NFL Draft, but later landed with the New York Giants. He served as a backup quarterback until 2007.

He signed with the Indianapolis Colts for their practice squad in 2008, but never returned to the NFL.

He's returned to the sport a few times, most notably for the Northern Kentucky River Monsters in 2011.

Lorenzen has also chronicled his struggles with weight loss the past few years. In an interview last year, he revealed that in 2017, he weighed over 500 pounds. He'd lost 100 pounds at the time of the interview.

Let's hope Lorenzen makes a full recovery. The college football world is pulling for him.
