Heartbreaking tributes continue to roll in for Kobe Bryant following the NBA legend’s shocking death last month.
Jay-Z revealed in a recent Roc Nation Sports conversation that he was last with Bryant on New Year’s Eve. The hip-hop legend said that Bryant looked up to him and the two hung out on multiple occasions. He also shared details from their final conversation.
“One of the last things he said to me was, ‘You gotta see Gianna play basketball,'” Jay-Z said.
Gianna, Kobe’s 13-year-old daughter, was one of nine people killed in the tragic helicopter accident in Calabasas, California. She was on her way to a basketball game and reportedly dreamed of playing for UConn and in the WNBA.
“The look on his face, I looked at him and said, ‘oh, she’s going to be the best female basketball player in the world'” Jay-Z said. “He was just so proud.”

The NBA will honor both Kobe and Gianna at the All-Star Game later this month. LeBron’s team will wear No. 2 in honor of Gianna, while Giannis’ team will wear No. 24 in honor of Kobe.
Our thoughts continue to remain with everyone affected by the awful tragedy.
