Friday afternoon, New York Jets running back Le’Veon Bell was sent home from practice with an illness for the second straight day. The team has now announced that he’ll miss Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
Bell was reportedly sent home so he wouldn’t get any of his teammates or coaches sick. But it doesn’t look like he’s going to recover in time to play against the team’s division rival.
Bell was originally listed as questionable on the team’s injury report Friday. The Jets made it official that he won’t play against the Dolphins on Saturday.
The Jets could be missing a number of key starters for the game.

Bell was signed this past offseason after he sat out the entire season in a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He hasn’t been particularly effective – he has just 589 yards and three touchdowns with a 3.2 yards per rush average.
The Jets are currently 4-8 and out of the playoff race. The Dolphins, meanwhile, are 3-9 in a similar situation.
The game will kick off at 1:00 PM ET on CBS.
