Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, once viewed as the savior for the Wolverines' program, is now the only Power 5 head coach with less than two years on his contract. Earlier this week, he gave a very awkward interview on the topic.

To be fair, most of what Harbaugh does comes off as awkward. But you could tell he was a bit uncomfortable with the questions he was getting.

The interview comes courtesy of the Detroit Sports Podcast. The clip in question comes via Brad Galli of WXYZ Detroit. Harbaugh was asked if there was an update on his contract situation since this past spring.

"No, no updates since then. Been other fish - bigger fish - to fry..."

He was then asked if he had a message for recruits who might be wondering his status with the school. He simply answered "Go Blue." Here's video:

Harbaugh has actually done a solid job at Michigan. He has a 47-18 record with a 32-12 mark in conference. But he hasn't returned the program to glory and more importantly, he hasn't beaten Ohio State in five tries. Michigan fans expect to compete for national titles.

It's hard to see Harbaugh leaving before accomplishing either of those goals, but the school could decide to move in a different direction. If that happened, it wouldn't be surprising to see Harbaugh return to the NFL.

The 2020 season is a big one for Harbaugh and Michigan. They open with Minnesota on Saturday.
