Johnny Manziel’s football career hit a snag earlier this year when the Alliance of American Football shuttered its doors just a few months after launching.
The former Heisman Trophy-winner played in the Canadian Football League before being kicked out and landing with the AAF. Without a field to play on, Manziel occupied his time in other ways.
No, it’s not with estranged wife Bre Tiesi.
Manziel is earning a living off the field by starring in commercials for Direct Auto Insurance. The former Cleveland Browns quarterback starred in two commercials for the company – one of which shows Manziel reading a mean tweet about himself.
Check it out.
The other commercial shows Manziel talking about the uncertainty of not knowing where your next paycheck it going to come from.
Manziel and other players from the Alliance of American Football never saw money from the league.
After stints in the NFL, CFL and AAF, it looks like Manziel’s opportunities to see the field are dwindling. A run in the XFL might be his final shot at a career in football.
We’ll have to wait and see if the XFL extends an invite to the former college star. Hopefully he accepts and we see him back on the field soon.
