A 2017 NFL Draft second round pick announced this morning that he's been released by his franchise following two seasons.

Josh Jones, the No. 61 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, took to Twitter to announce the tough news.

"It’s been real Green Bay. The Packers just informed me of my release," he announced.

Jones had reportedly requested a trade out of Green Bay earlier this preseason.

Jones was a second round pick out of NC State in 2017.

The former Wolfpack star totaled 126 tackles, three sacks and 1 interception in two seasons with Green Bay.

Green Bay is set to open the 2019 regular season on Thursday, Sept. 5 against the Chicago Bears. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. E.T.
