The Dallas Cowboys officially made a change at the kicker position this week, letting go of Brett Maher and bringing in 32-year-old veteran Kai Forbath.
Forbath could have had a better start to his Cowboys stint…
The Rams got the ball to start the game and Forbath made sure Los Angeles had good field position. His opening kickoff went out of bounds for a penalty.
That’s not exactly the start you want at AT&T Stadium.
The Kai Forbath Era is underway in Dallas! With a kickoff out of bounds…

This is Forbath’s second stint with the Dallas Cowboys. He spent one season with the NFC East franchise in 2011. The former UCLA kicker has bounced around the NFL for about a decade.
The Cowboys need some consistency in their kicking game. Maher had an incredibly strong leg and made some deep kicks, but struggled in the 30 to 40-yard range.
Forbath’s opening kickoff mistake didn’t cost the Cowboys, at least, as the Rams were forced to punt on their opening drive.
Dallas and Los Angeles are tied, 0-0.
