Toronto Raptors fans cheered when then-Golden State Warriors star forward Kevin Durant went down with a torn Achilles injury in the NBA Finals. The fans didn’t know the extent of Durant’s injury at the time, though they were criticized heavily in the moment.
Durant, who signed with the Brooklyn Nets in free agency this summer, recently opened up about everything that’s happened to him in an interview with Yahoo! Sports’ NBA insider Chris Haynes.
The Nets star had a brutally honest message for the Raptors fans who cheered his injury.
“It will probably be the last time they will be in the Finals,” Durant said “with a smirk.”

The Raptors lost Kawhi Leonard to the Los Angeles Clippers in free agency, so Toronto will not be favored to make it back to the NBA Finals.
Masai Ujiri is still leading the franchise, though, and possesses quite a bit of talent on the roster outside of Kawhi.
It wouldn’t be shocking to see Toronto back in the NBA Finals at some point over the next decade.
