LeBron James' first season with the Los Angeles Lakers will not include a postseason appearance, as the team was officially eliminated from Western Conference contention on Friday night.

This will be the first time LeBron has missed the playoffs since 2005. He had made eight straight NBA Finals prior to this season.

The Lakers were eliminated following their 111-106 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

James was brutally honest about the Lakers' season following the game.

"It's not what we signed up for. Throughout the year, things happened. Suspensions, injuries, things of that nature. And just not being able to play sustainable basketball for 48 minutes.

"But you don't even try to wrap your head around it, you just keep pushing. Just try to get better tonight, move onto tomorrow, and go from there.

"Playoffs are never promised. You've got to come out and work. For me personally, you just continue to put the work in and see what you can do to help," he told reporters.

The summer will be a massive one for LeBron and the Lakers. The franchise needs to make a big move or two.
