The Los Angeles Lakers are making moves ahead of NBA free agency. According to a recent report, the Lakers traded several players and a second-round pick to the Washington Wizards in an attempt to open cap space.

After the move, the Lakers have enough cap space to offer a max deal to potential free agents.

That's not the only news going on with the Lakers.

According to a report from Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, LeBron James is gifting the No. 23 to Anthony Davis - who the Lakers traded for earlier this offseason.

From the report:

"Lakers superstar LeBron James is gifting Anthony Davis his No. 23, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The league has been notified of the pending jersey change, sources said.

Davis, 26, has worn No. 23 throughout his entire seven-year NBA career as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans."

Both James and Davis rock the No. 23, so someone would have had to change their number before the season.

According to Haynes, LeBron will not be able to select from the following numbers: 8, 13, 22, 24, 25, 32, 33, 34, 42, 44 and 52 - which are retired by the Lakers.

James previously wore No. 6 with the Miami Heat. Lance Stephenson wore No. 6 for the Lakers last season, but he was on a one-year contract.
