Earlier Thursday afternoon, a report emerged suggesting LeBron James was gifting the No. 23 to new Lakers star Anthony Davis.
According to a report from Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, LeBron gifted the No. 23 to Davis, who waived his $4 million trade kicker not long after.
Davis wore No. 23 with the New Orleans Pelicans, and will take over as the latest Laker to don the number.
But what will LeBron James wear for the new season? He previously wore No. 6 with the Miami Heat, prompting many to suggest he would revert back to No. 6 with the Lakers.
A few hours after the report first emerged, LeBron took to Twitter with a message revealing his new number.
It looks like he'll be wearing No. 6 this season.
LeBron wasn't able to select from the following numbers: 8, 13, 22, 24, 25, 32, 33, 34, 42, 44 and 52 - which are retired by the Lakers.
Instead of going for a new third number, LeBron went back to the jersey he won to titles in with the Miami Heat.
The Lakers have made several moves this offseason as the team looks to rebound on a season where they didn't make the playoffs. After adding Anthony Davis and creating cap space enough for a max spot, Los Angeles looks like a contender.
