LeBron James signed a four-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of this past season, but many are now wondering whether he’ll last with the franchise more than one year. The Lakers missed the playoffs last season and have been unable to land any other major free agents.
Stephen A. Smith reported earlier in the week that some in the Lakers’ camp want the team to trade James and focus on building the roster for the future. It seems unlikely, but anything is possible.
If James were to be traded, there aren’t a ton of options. James isn’t going to play for a franchise that doesn’t have a shot to win now. He’s also not likely going to wind up in a small market.
Thursday, Bovada released odds for the seven teams that could have James on their opening day roster. One is the Lakers – set at -600.
With all the turmoil in Laker Land, the Knicks and Clippers are only +700 to add LeBron James next season while the Cavs and Heat are not far off. The Lakers remain the favorites. pic.twitter.com/ubPolG74W9

The other six are teams he could be traded to. The Knicks and the Clippers have the best odds at +700.
The Cavaliers and the Heat – two teams he’s already played for – come in at +1000. There’s also the Bulls at +1500 and the Pacers at +1800. Either of those would be an absolute shock.
One big factor at play – the NBA Draft Lottery takes place this coming week. We’ll know a lot more about what kind of draft assets teams will have after that.
It’s still a long shot that James plays anywhere else next season. We’ll see.
