The Los Angeles Lakers sent an emphatic message to the rest of the NBA on Christmas, decimating the Golden State Warriors on the road. However, LeBron James suffered an injury in the process which kept fans everywhere holding their breath.
Fortunately for the Lakers, the MRI results from today show that James will be day-to-day with a groin strain.
If Los Angeles is going to return to the postseason and make a run toward the NBA Finals, then James will need to be healthy. Even at 33 years old, the superstar forward is averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists per contest.
With the official word out on James' status, the four-time MVP quickly went on Twitter to release this message to his followers.
"Dodged a bullet!" he tweeted.
Although the Lakers will likely have to play the next few games without James, it'll provide an opportunity for the rest of the team to grow.
Now, it's time for Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram to show they can help carry this roster into the playoffs.
It's extremely rare for James to miss time with an injury. Nonetheless, Los Angeles will have to adapt while its leader makes a full recovery.
This might just be the toughest stretch of the season for the Lakers, especially without James in the lineup, as they play against the Kings, Clipper and Thunder over the next week.
