Sooners fans packed the house for Oklahoma's Crimson and Cream spring game. According to the school, over 75,000 were in attendance, prompting a reaction from former OU star running back DeMarco Murray.
"WOW!!!!!" Murray tweeted in all-caps. "BEST FANS IN THE NATION!!!!!"
Over 250 former players returned to Norman's campus to get their first on-field look at Brent Venables since taking over the Sooners program.
Baker Mayfield was also honored at halftime, and had his Heisman statue unveiled at Heisman Park.
Murray currently serves on Venables' staff as a running backs coach. Over his four seasons at Oklahoma, Murray was a two-time 1,000-yard rusher as a sophomore and a senior.
He went on to be drafted in the third round by the Dallas Cowboys. And when healthy, was highly productive. He'd make three Pro Bowls over his seven-year NFL career, rushing for 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2014 on his way to All-Pro and Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Oklahoma's season kicks off September 3 when the Sooners host UTEP.
