The Louisville women's basketball team punched its ticket to the Final Four on Monday night.
The No. 1 seed Cardinals beat three-seed Michigan 62-50 yesterday to escape the Elite Eight and advance to the Final Four. Their opponent? The best team in women's college basketball: the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Louisville star Hailey Van Lith is up for the challenge. After dropping 22 points, grabbing three boards and dishing out one assist to lead the Cardinals past the Wolverines, Van Lith spoke with ESPN about the upcoming Final Four.
Her postgame interview went viral for what she had to say about the late Kobe Bryant.
"He would say, 'Go f—ing win this s—t Hailey.' That's what he would say. 'We not done.' That's what he would say right there."
Hailey Van Lith's postgame interview has the college basketball world talking:
"I absolutely love this girls response. She kept it real. Congrats and go win it! I feel like that was a screwed up question to ask in that moment unprovoked though," one fan said.
"Only Kobe could impact women's basketball without having played one single minute in their league," another commented.
The late Kobe Bryant was a proud supporter of women's basketball. He attended many games and had great relationships with former and current stars, including former Oregon superstar Sabrina Ionescu.
Van Lith will no doubt try and honor Kobe Bryant's legacy in the Final Four.
