On Saturday, NBA fans were given a sight they haven't seen in months: Zion Williamson playing the game of basketball.
Williamson, who was finally cleared for basketball activities after returning to the Pelicans organization last week, was spotted getting up shots with Corey Brewer and Teresa Weatherspoon at New Orleans facilities earlier this afternoon. He participated in light shooting activities during Friday's practice as well.
Video of the All-Star forward is going viral on Twitter.
Zion has yet to take the floor for the Pelicans this season as he continues to deal with a serious foot issue. The New Orleans organization recently revealed that the former No. 1 overall pick's surgery recovery is showing significant progress, but a timeline for his return is still undetermined.
Through 61 games in the 2020-21 season, Zion averaged 27.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game on a wildly efficient 61.1% shooting from the field. The re-introduction of this dominant post presence would no doubt be a welcome sight for a Pelicans team that's currently making a late-season push.
With the addition of former Trail Blazers star C.J. McCollum, the Pelicans currently sit at No. 10 in the Western Conference and looked primed for a spot in this year's play-in game.
