Later tonight, the New York Yankees will face off against the Chicago White Sox in one of the most highly-anticipated regular season games in MLB history.
While this should be a contentious matchup between two solid teams, tonight’s game is more about the location than anything.
Taking the field in Dyersville, Iowa, the Yankees and the White Sox will battle it out in an iconic “Field of Dreams” game — honoring the 1989 Oscar-nominated film.
In spirit of the event, Yankees pitcher Zack Britton showed off his new pair of customized cleats for tonight’s game.
Partnered with More Than Baseball and Stadium Custom Kicks, the two-time All Star’s shoes feature imagery of the field and text of the movie’s classic tagline, “If you build it, they will come.”
“Excited to partner with @mtb_org and wear these awesome cleats designed by @stadiumcustomkicks for the Field Of Dreams game,” Britton wrote on Instagram. “These cleats will eventually be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to help minor league players as they chase their dream of getting to the big leagues.”
Earlier this year, the MLB constructed a 7,911-seat pop-up ballpark next to the original set of the movie. The event was originally set to take place between the White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals in 2020, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Britton’s New York teammate Aaron Judge will also take the field tonight with a pair of custom cleats.
