The Mavericks did what they were supposed to do without Luka Doncic in the lineup: win one of their first two playoff games vs. the Utah Jazz. Now as the series heads to Salt Lake City, they could really use the services of their superstar. It's look like that may become a reality.

Per NBA insider Shams Charania, there's growing "optimism" Luka Doncic will return for either Game 3 or Game 4.

Doncic is dealing with a calf strain. He suffered the injury nine days ago, but has been making good progress. His workouts over these next two days will determine his availability for Thursday's and Saturday's games.

The Mavericks already beat Utah once without Doncic. Imagine how this series will play out if he returns for Game 3? The Jazz could be in serious trouble.

"Mavs have done the business winning one game. Bring them home Luka"

"It’s 1-1. Might as well wait until Saturday."

"I’ve kinda felt like game 5 was the return but the Jazz are so cooked if he’s back on Thursday lmao"

"Excellent news, can't wait to see what the Mavs can do with Luka back."

"Luka saw the Jazz defense last night and realized he can play at 50 percent"

With the series tied 1-1 and now heading back to Salt Lake City, the Mavs could really use Luka Doncic.

Dallas takes on Utah in Game 3 on Thursday night.
