Kawhi Leonard wants out of San Antonio. For reasons unbeknownst to those outside of the organization, Leonard's relationship with the Spurs soured following the star's injury-plagued 2017-18 season.

Did the team disagree on the best way to handle his health? If so, is that enough to ruin a relationship that brought a championship and had Kawhi being mentioned as one of the top three players on the planet?

It seems so. Leonard reportedly wants to play in Los Angeles, where he grew up. Lakers, Clippers, it doesn't matter - Kawhi just wants out of San Antonio and to L.A.

That's according to Cris Carter, at least. Carter, who appears to be oddly plugged-in to Kawhi's camp, said on First Things First that Kawhi still wants to join either the Lakers or Clippers.

“Nothing’s changed from Kawhi’s side. He still wants to go to Los Angeles & he’s still not interested in being rented out for 1 season — that being Philly, Boston, Toronto, or any other team."

This is a significant change from the reports that have come out over the recent week stating Kawhi could be traded to an Eastern Conference team. In fact, many reports have come out stating the Spurs have no interest in sending Kawhi to the Western Conference where they'll have to play against him.

Leonard clearly isn't happy with the Spurs at this point. However, Gregg Popovich and R.C Buford should be in no hurry to send their star player away. The two are undoubtedly hoping they can repair the frazzled relationship and offer Kawhi a max contract next season.
