Carmelo Anthony’s time as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder has nearly run its course. The Thunder have reportedly been working on a trade to alleviate the team’s cap pressure following Melo’s decision to opt-in to the final year of his deal.
Anthony is owed nearly $28 million for the upcoming NBA season and the Thunder are up against the cap. Oklahoma City plans to either trade Melo to a team that would buyout his contract, or buy him out itself.
Marc Stein of the New York Times reported that a trade with the Chicago Bulls is a possibility. He went on to say Melo won’t be a member of the Thunder “one way or another.”
In the vent he becomes a free agent, the Houston Rockets are the favorite to land him.
In either scenario — after a complicated trade or going the simpler buyout route — Carmelo Anthony is widely expected to become a free agent .. with the Houston Rockets favored to sign Melo once he clears waivers https://t.co/jylH5jVhBx

Houston has been mentioned as the likely destination for Melo since the rumors started floating around Oklahoma City’s plans to let him go.
It will be interesting to see how the 10-time All-Star fits in with James Harden, Chris Paul, and others.
