Two of the world’s biggest female sports stars will be tying the knot. World Cup hero Megan Rapinoe and WNBA All-Star Sue Bird officially announced Friday night that they’re engaged.
Bird dropped the news via Instagram, showing a photo of Rapinoe proposing in an infinity pool. There’s no caption, but Rapinoe is down on one knee, appearing to put a ring on Bird’s finger.
The two met back in 2016 at the Olympics in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
Rapinoe has been a member of the United States national team since 2006, helping it win two World Cup titles in that span. She also plays for the OL Reign in the NWSL.
Bird, meanwhile, is one of the most accomplished WNBA players in history. She’s won four WNBA titles and been named an All-Star 11 times. Her Seattle Storm are the reigning champions as well.
Joe Biden, Democratic nominee for president, congratulated the duo on Twitter after hearing the news.
