Legendary NBA star Michael Jordan announced a major donation on Friday.

Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player of all-time, and his brand, Air Jordan, announced a significant donation to Morehouse College.

The gift of $1 million is meant to boost journalism and sports-related studies.

According to the Associated Press, the gift "will help enrich its journalism and sports program that was originally launched with a donation from director and actor Spike Lee."

Morehouse College released a statement on the donation.

"Morehouse is grateful to Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand for an investment in the education of talented men of color who will ensure there is equity, balance, and truth in the way sports stories are framed and the way the Black experience is contextualized within American history," said Monique Dozier, vice president for institutional advancement at Morehouse.

Jordan's gift is part of his bigger Black Community Commitment campaign, which has made donations to several notable institutions.

The former NBA star announced last year that he was donating $100 million over 10 years.

“It’s 2020, and our family now includes anyone who aspires to our way of life. Yet as much as things have changed, the worst remains the same.

“Black lives matter. This isn’t a controversial statement. Until the ingrained racism that allow our country’s institutions to fail is completely eradicated, we will remain committed to protecting and improving the lives of Black people.”
