The landscape of the NBA and college basketball was changed this morning due to former Michigan head coach John Beilein. He’ll leave the Wolverines to become the next coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Cleveland is giving Beilein a five-year contract in hopes that he can help rebuild its franchise. This will put an end to his impactful career with the Wolverines, which included two trips to the national championship.
Any move of this magnitude requires round-the-clock efforts from media outlets. Unfortunately for Nick Baumgardner of the Detroit Free Press, it meant his time away from the computer wouldn’t last very long.
Baumgardner let his followers know he’d be off social media, saying “Ok folks, I’ll be off for a bit here (I’ve got some dad duty time coming up).”
Well, the news of Beilein leaving for Michigan called for a change of plans.
Instead of receiving his time off from work, Baumgardner found himself quickly covering the departure of Beilein.
His reaction on social media to this hectic morning is pretty epic.
OK, so, I'm back.

Obviously the loss of Beilein will sting at first, but the positive is that he left the program better than he found it.
It’s imperative that Michigan finds the right coach to replace Beilein in Ann Arbor.
