The 2018 NBA offseason saw several stars head to new teams. LeBron James decided to take his talents to Los Angeles, while Kawhi Leonard was traded to the Toronto Raptors.
However, the 2019 offseason could hold more fascinating headlines. Leonard, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, and more will be free agents following the 2018-19 season.
The NBA will be in for an interesting few months during summer 2019. Although we're a year removed from the 2019 offseason, chatter has already started about where those top free agents could land.
According to NBA insider David Aldridge, Kawhi will consider a surprise team. Aldridge believes Leonard will give the Brooklyn Nets a look.
Here's what he had to say in his Monday morning mailbag.
Unless Marks rubbed Leonard the wrong way somehow in the 210, and there’s absolutely no evidence I know of indicating that, I think Leonard will give the Nets a fair hearing next July.
The Nets have cleared significant cap space headed into the season, and could easily provide a massive deal for Kawhi. Leonard has been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers over the past few weeks.
Will Kawhi back home to L.A. following the season? Stay tuned.
