Markelle Fultz's NBA tenure has been a disaster since he was chosen as the No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft. The Philadelphia 76ers guard has battled a myriad of shoulder issues and what looks like a case of the "yips" when it comes to shooting.

Thus far this season, Fultz is averaging 8.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while shooting only 42 percent from the field and 29 percent from three-point range. He's also connected on only 57 percent of his free throws.

This morning, TNT's David Aldridge reported that Fultz is slated to see a shoulder specialist early next week. Until then, he won't participate in any practices or games, according to his agent Raymond Brothers.

This is just the latest physical setback for the former Washington guard. As a rookie, Fultz played in only 14 games due to shoulder problems.

Fultz's absence shouldn't hurt the Sixers that much, on paper. They just acquired Jimmy Butler and this should mean more minutes for solid veteran T.J. McConnell as the backup point guard.

However, the team has to hope Fultz can get the answers he needs regarding his injured shoulder. This is a former No. 1 overall pick, and if he goes down as a bust, it will reflect poorly on Philly.

Here's hoping Fultz is able to get right soon.
