NBA Player's Father Killed In Drive-By Shooting Last Night

The father of a former NBA player was killed on Wednesday night. According to a report from TMZ, Richard Jefferson's father, Richard Jefferson Sr., was killed in a drive-by shooting in Compton earlier Wednesday evening.

The report states Jefferson was in front of a liquor store with two other people when someone in a vehicle opened fire. Jefferson was reportedly hit several times in the torso.

Paramedics transported Jefferson to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Law enforcement tells us ... 65-year-old Richard Jefferson Sr. was in front of a liquor store in a primarily residential area around 6:52 PM when a vehicle rolled up and someone inside opened fire.

Jefferson Sr. was struck multiple times in the torso. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sources say Jefferson Sr. was with 2 other men at the time of the shooting. It's unclear if Jefferson Sr. was the target.

Jefferson's son, Richard Jefferson Jr., is an NBA veteran. The former first-round pick won an NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.
