The Los Angeles Lakers are viewed as the likely favorite to sign LeBron James this summer. He would be a massive splash for a franchise that has missed the playoffs the last five seasons.
Of course, there is also speculation that the Lakers would have to deal Lonzo Ball if they add James. You have to think LeBron probably doesn't want any part of LaVar Ball and any other shenanigans.
NBA writer Chris Palmer, who covers the Lakers for Spectrum, has other ideas though. Palmer doesn't want to deal Lonzo in order to get LeBron.
In fact, if given the choice, he'd take Ball over James.
That's a spicy take. As you can imagine, he's taking some grief for it.
In a response, Palmer did say he'd prefer to sign James and keep Ball.
Still, despite the upside Lonzo Ball may have, there's no guarantee he fulfills Palmer's prediction of being the league's best point guard in two years.
LeBron isn't going to play forever, but he's still the best player in the league and should be for a few more seasons.
