The Houston Rockets did not have Austin Rivers available for yesterday’s opening game of the Western Conference semifinal series against Golden State. However, it appears they won’t have to wait long for him to return.
Speaking with reporters today, Rivers said he didn’t play in Game 1 due to a bout with a stomach virus. His status for tomorrow’s Game 2 is promising.
Rivers will practice today and is expected to give it a go tomorrow night.
Austin Rivers says he missed Game 1 due to a 24-hour flu and stomach virus. “I couldn’t get out of the bed without going to the bathroom,” he said. Will practice today and plans to play tomorrow.

In 47 regular season games (13 starts) with Houston, Rivers averaged 8.7 points, 2.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 28.6 minutes per game.
Golden State won yesterday’s Game 1, pulling out a 104-100 victory in a hard-fought, albeit at times sloppy, contest. These two teams went to seven games in last year’s Western Conference Finals.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow night at Oracle. Tip off is set for 10:30 p.m. ET.
TNT will broadcast the action.
